The Impact of Our Network on Mandela Day
Madiba’s vision was for us, ordinary South Africans, to contribute to society and make a positive impact! This year, we were reminded of the spirit of unity, service, and compassion that defines our nation.
We’re proud of our network – who took time from their day to give their 67 minutes through meaningful acts of change.
Here’s a snapshot of what we got up to:
- PKF Cape Town – donated non-perishable food and toiletries to the SA Children’s Home.
- PKF Constantia Valley – packed jars of hope containing a soup mix that they distributed to local feeding schemes.
- PKF Durban – were involved in four missions. 1. Cornubia Street Kids: They donated stationery, clothes, and toiletries for children living on the streets around Cornubia. 2. Winter Warmth Drive: The underprivileged area of Claremont Estate was chosen to warm up with blankets, which the team collected and donated. 3. Jars of Hope: They packed 70 Jars of Hope in 67 minutes for The Seed Fund, an organisation they’ve been supporting for the last five years. 4. Jona Vaughan Home: The Durban South Team collected a generous amount of non-perishable food items for this children’s home in the Amazimtoti area.
- PKF George – headed down to their local SPCA and donated food, blankets, and treats for our furry friends.
- PKF Octagon – launched their Unlocking Future Ambitions initiative, which will end on Mandela Day 2026. As part of empowering the next generation, the Octagon squad collected stationery and delivered them to the Arise and Shine Hope Centre on Friday afternoon. The team also did a winter drive, collecting new blankets, scarves, beanies, and jackets to hand over in Soweto in partnership with Merchants of Light.
- PKF Port Elizabeth – supported the Livingston Hospital Care Project and donated 60 care packages to patients.
- PKF Pretoria – hosted a winter blanket, scarves, and coat drive, donating these items to Eleos House of Hope in Pretoria West, where the team also handed out clothing and warmed some bellies with soup.
- PKF VGA – contributed to the day through three avenues. They hosted a blood drive at the office on Friday, donated blankets, pet food, and other essentials to the SPCA, and collected school supplies, toys, and clothing for the local children’s home.
These efforts are an example of the massive impact we can have as a network – that is stronger together. Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to turning Madiba’s vision into a working reality.
Let’s continue trying to make the world a better place!
